Beginner Crochet Free Pattern - Shawl
Being Single, I never get any gift on Valentine's day. To make me happy, I gift myself something every year and this year it was a crochet Shawl.
Materials Required:
J/10 6 mm Crochet Hook
Caron International One Pound: Red
Red Heart super Saver: White
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Stitches:
Double Crochet Stitch
Chain Stitch
Single crochet Stitch
Gauge:
As all my projects say I never use gauge.
Love the Red & White
Pattern
Ch 185 (You can chain as many as you want. Depends on how long / short you want the shawl to be)
Foundation Row: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook. Dc in each ch across and turn
Row 1-18: Ch 2 (counts as first Dc), Dc in each chain across and turn.
You can repeat row 1 as many times as you want. It depends on how wide / narrow you want your shawl to be. I wanted it to be more wider than what it is, but as I was using a scrap yarn from my Mario project, I could only make it about 18 lines.
Fasten off once you have the desired width.
Embroidery:
With White, use embroidery chain stitch as you want on the shawl (There is no specific pattern that I use to embroider on the shawl). Use crochet hook instead of the tapestry needle. Place the wool under the shawl and pull up a loop with the crochet hook. Insert the hook a little further away and pull up another loop. Repeat this till you have the embroidery pattern.

Have you ever embroidered on a Crochet project?
Tassels
Pattern:
Using the left over white yarn from the Mario Project, I made the tassels.
Step 1: Cut 2 strands of yarn of the desired length (Should be twice as long as the length of the actual tassel required)
Step 2: Gather the strands and fold them in half.
Step 3: Insert the hook in the stitch where you want to place the tassel
Step 4: Insert the hook in the middle of the folded strands and pull all the strands through the stitch.
Step 5: Wrap the loose ends of the yarn and pull them through the loop formed. (One Tassel Made)
Repeat Step 1 – 5 (18 times, one for each row)
To make it neat pull of the tassels firm and trim off the edges to have a straight edging.
